Oops, we’re not going there—to a time of high volume hair and tunes like Crazy Train, You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’, or We’re Not Gonna Take It? While there’s so many heavy metal song titles that fit the extraordinary times we are realizing as a world, as a nation and people, I would like to bring attention to the insightful perspectives of the 5 Chinese Elements—METAL being one of them.

Metal energy is strong, bold, enduring, resilient, intense and useful. Think of the things in your life, around the house and out in the world that are made from Metal. Metal also provides comfort, luxury, and tools for ease and efficiency. It can also be rigid, organized and militant.

Metal characteristics, found in people and relationships echo those traits creating inner strength and resilience.

The reason I am focusing on Metal energy is because it’s been a few years since it’s presence has really been substantial. In the 4 Pillar Chinese astrology chart of 2020, Metal is the dominant element. And what is happening in our micro and macro worlds is reflecting this influence.

Metal is also governed by the Throat Chakra. This chakra mainly manifests in the throat and neck (on a sub-level it manifests in our big toes, hips, thumbs, shoulders and eyes). It is the color blue and when functioning properly speech and expression are clear and kind.

Physiologically, in Chinese medicine, Metal manages the lungs and skin. Representing grief and insecurity vs hope and courage

The two Chinese zodiac animals ruled by Metal are Rooster and Dog. The traits of Rooster are about creative expression and needing to be heard. The Dog is the judge and prepares for the worst.

Metal is also about loss and is most active in the Autumn months when the crops are barren and the leaves fall to the ground.

If you’ve been following me or reading my work for a while (Or not. Here’s a link to more . . . https://fengshuivia.me/articles/), you know where I’m going with this. You know that I look for patterns, reasons, indicators, and insights from within these ancient teachings. There are some serious connections here, and I believe that when we can see things through a unique lens such as this, that it empowers us to make adjustments, comforts us to know that it’s a moment in time, and teaches us about ourselves and our place in this ever-evolving planet and human race.

I don’t think you need me to spell it all out. I’m sure you are seeing the connections in the things I’m sharing here and what’s showing up in the news, in your town, in your ability to fully breathe life in, along with the discernment of how to express your wants and needs. Whether we’re talking about the pandemic, or the uprising and call for civility and equality, or the escalation of our own fears and insecurities, the parallels are obvious and can’t be ignored.

Some of us find it easy to express ourselves—some are better or more effective than others. And some of us struggle with what and how to articulate the clashing of the cymbals that’s happening in our minds, bodies, hearts and souls.

I’m offering some ideas on how we can be heard without feeling like we need to do it in a way that doesn’t feel natural or authentic. Your voice, YOUR inspiration is unique. Find what feels right for you to express your true fears, your doubts, your judgments, your worry, pain, discomfort or hope.

talk

Metal is also the ethereal representation of the Father, the Child, the Oneness, consciousness, and new light. Perhaps this portal of energy is the answer to so many prayers. Stay curious—there’s more at stake than what is happening today.

Elevate and bring sacredness to your voice, speech and expression.

Rock on!
