Do you have a drop zone?
Often times when we come home, we carry with us a bunch of crap that has no place in our home. Whether it’s the guy that cut you off on your exit, a tough day at work, a hostile Facebook exchange, or a confrontation with your child’s teacher, we don’t need to be bringing that stuff into our home. Your child may have had a negative interaction with a teacher or friend, or hung out with a friend who is having a rough day. All that energy has potential to cling to our energetic bodies. So often, we pick up things (energies) here and there and before you know it the house is a mess, the family is sick, everyone is pissy or just plain tired and nothing gets accomplished.
Sure, maybe picking up some yucky energy from a friend allows that friend to get through their day with more ease…but that doesn’t mean we need to carry that stuff around, bring it home, and live in it.
So create a Drop Zone. A place just outside the door everyone uses to enter the home. Position a tall vase or empty pot to the left of the door—when looking at your door from outside. Place it with purpose. Tell this pot that its job is to take any excess energy that does not serve and support the highest well being of you and your family. As you walk past the pot, intentfully deposit that energy there. You don’t need to know what the energy is, just flick your fingers into the pot and let it go! This doesn’t mean that all of life’s problems miraculously disappear, but it does enhance clarity and self-awareness.
Be sure to clean the Drop Zone out now and then. And give it gratitude for serving you well. Give this a try and let me know how it’s working for you. Do you feel less weighted down as you enter your home? Drop me a comment and let me know.
