The COMPASS, with its true north, is divided into 8 directions, and the feng shui compass includes the center—the hub of the wheel or the center from which our lives evolve.

The first direction is NORTH, representing water, the beginning of time, how we move from one place to another, heal, and communicate. The life aspect is your journey, life path, and career.

The second direction is SOUTHWEST, expressing love of Self, a partner, and commitment to intimacy … a union. It features our sexuality and the pleasure we receive. It is feminine, nurturing, the giver of life.

Direction three is the EAST. It echoes our ancestral influence and where we stand in our familial lineage. At times it is chaotic, like a thunderstorm, and deep roots create imprinting that can anchor us in comfort and uncomfortably bind us in the past.

Direction four … the SOUTHEAST, where things are abundant, wild and life-fulfilling. It is where we discover our Self-worth and learn compassion. It’s like a gentle breeze that makes you smile. It’s your money luck.

Direction five is the CENTER, the tai chi, health, and place from which we feel balanced or imbalanced. It grounds us and when it is off … we are off.

Direction six is the NORTHWEST, where we connect to Spirit and seek guidance. It supports Self-expression and our ability to listen. It creates strength, logic, diligence, organization, and protection.

The direction in the seventh position, the WEST, represents creativity and the child within. The playfulness, and expression of pure thought and inspiration.

Direction eight is stillness in the NORTHEAST. Like a mountain that quietly witnesses and carries ancient stories of inner wisdom. It heightens intuition and imagination. It inspires Self-cultivation and teaches us acceptance.

And the ninth direction is the SOUTH. Revealing your Self to the world … your reputation. It is passionate, enthusiastic, quick and is where true transformation occurs. It is the end of a cycle. The all knowing of the oneness.

These are the 9 Aspects of Life Experience as seen through a feng shui practitioner’s eyes. The directions, in your space, correlate with these aspects of your life. If an area of your life is not where you desire it to be, go look at the space that sits in the corresponding direction of your home, personal space, office, or business. It will reveal a lot about what you are creating.
